Charlie Puckett and I really became good friends in college. At A&M, Charlie was a member of the Corps of Cadets, played water polo (doesn't that sound like him--taking the path less traveled), and distinguished himself academically. He professed an ambition to politics, and had a plan to get there. After we graduated, he attended law school and spent some time in Washington, DC, as a law clerk in a government office. He moved to Houston when he felt he had learned all Washington could teach him. He was killed in an auto accident. I miss him. He was a deep thinker and a true intellectual, despite his often acerbic character. Our world lost a lot when Charlie died. From Clarence Annett
