In Memory

Colleen Hanes (Robinson)

Colleen and I grew up together.  Our parents were best friends, went to the same church, sang in choir together, etc.  Our families went on several trips together.  One of those trips was to Red River in about 1963.

This is one of my favorite photos of me and Colleen together from those days.  I have a million childhood memories of Colleen and her family.  They were special people and in many ways just like family to me.  In high school we ran in different circles and started to lose track of each other, but she was a special childhood friend.  Her mother, Anita, died in 1996 and her father, Sam, and Colleen died the same week in 1999, Monday and Thursday respectively.  It's still hard to believe they are gone.  (Submitted by Jim Rayburn)

Collen was a good friend at Sam Houston and we all had a lot of laughs. Her joy was contagious.

I am sorry to hear she has passed from this world.
