 Richard "Rick" Sumner, 65, of Amarillo passed away January 26, 2018.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
He was preceded in death by his parents O.C. and Margaret Sumner; and a sister, Lynda Kellum.
Born November 10, 1952, Rick was a lifelong Amarillo resident graduating from Tascosa High school and West Texas State University. He remained an avid fan and supporter of both schools throughout life and also enjoyed cheering for his favorite NBA team. Go Buffs! Go Spurs!
Rick had a successful professional career working in the Finance/Cash Management department at S.P.S/Xcel before launching several businesses of his own including Real Estate, LRS Video Production, and Sumner Insurance agency and also held membership in their corresponding professional associations.
Early in life Rick was active in the community including coaching basketball for the men's league at San Jacinto United Methodist and his daughter's childhood teams. He also served on the Finance Committee of San Jacinto United Methodist Church, and was a board member for Access Community Credit Union.
Rick is survived by his wife Ketzi Sumner, brother Dwight Sumner and wife Karen and daughter Emily Blaut and husband Brandon who brought joy into his life with four grandsons Noah, Gabe, Eli and Brody. His family tree also includes many beloved nieces and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m., today at the funeral home.
