Scott Forrester Courtney passed away the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the age of 58. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Funeral Home Garden Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association . Scott was born Aug. 9, 1953, in Denver, Colo., and graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo in 1971. He attended Texas Tech University and later graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA. Scott also served for four years in the U.S. Air Force. Ambitious and hard working, Scott started his own dry cleaning business in the 1980s. Scott's most important job, however, was being a father to his two children, daughter Christina and son Scott Jr. He treasured, among all else, his time spent with them and took pride in watching them grow and find success. He will be dearly missed by his children, family and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Courtney; and nephew, Randall Courtney. Survivors: Daughter, Christina Courtney Rodgers and husband, Cass Rodgers; son, Scott Courtney Jr.; brother, Robert Courtney and wife, Cathy; niece, Jana Courtney; and cousins, Grady and Kenneth Peterson and their families.
