RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Thursday, September 30, 2010 10:07 PM Mine was Mrs. Betty Lay. I had her for English two years, I just don't remember which ones. I really connected with her. |

RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Saturday, October 2, 2010 11:49 AM Neil Hess, for drama. Definitely. His classes offered the most professional, focused educational experience I ever had probably, including law school. He taught us to have the highest work ethics and production standards.
My parents moved across town so I could study with him. Our 1971 One-Act Play "Oedipus Rex" won Best in the State of Texas, with the cast receiving drama scholarships to UT-A and a private drama academy in Dallas. Curious, of course, to learn about my castmates, as well as other drama friends. I bumped into Valerie McCarthy in a Denver grocery store in the late 80s! |

RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Wednesday, February 23, 2011 12:10 AM I really enjoyed Doc Weldon for History. He was a trainer for the sports teams and a really nice and likeable guy. I also enjoyed Mr. Crawford teaching Typing. He was one of the few African/American teachers at Tascosa. I'm not sure he always received the respect that he deserved. |

RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Monday, March 28, 2011 10:36 PM when where while whenever whereever after since because as if, as though, even though, even if, that , so that , in order that, until, unless, before, less, than, ......Damn Dr Sample would be mad, I can't remember them all. All good kids remember his rules for 99 years. I loved his crazy class of Roses and Thorns for 2 years. Everybody could chew gum in his class,,, well except the students. Call me Ishmael, the greatest opening line in all of literature. and so on...... |

RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Tuesday, March 29, 2011 11:04 AM Mr. Clark was a great teacher -- and remained a friend for several years after I graduated. We disagreed about much in life, but he was a true believer in eliciting the best in his students. I still miss him. |

RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Saturday, April 2, 2011 03:32 PM Hello Pam, This is Scott Spencer. I have looked up 3 Bill Clarks in the Amarillo area. I have called two of them, one on Elmhurst, and one that lives in Canyon and they are neither one the right Bill Clark. I tried the third one but he doesn't have an answering machine, and so I couldn't leave a message. according to my phone (Yellow pages) He lives on Truman St. in Amarillo. Do you have any idea about where I might find him or could you possibly contact him. |

RE: Who was Your Favorite Teacher in 71 Posted Saturday, April 2, 2011 03:35 PM Hello Patti. this is Scott Spencer. I tried finding Mrs. Lay but no luck. Do you by chance know who her husband is. It's very hard to find a woman by their maiden name. If you could contact her it would be great. We need more teachers at this reunion. Thanks Scott. |
