Wow - forty years have passed! I've just been busy with life! First raising children and now enjoying grandchildren! They hold my most precious memories. I guess we all grow and attempt to prosper in life but in realty the things that give us the most joy are our children, grandchildren and friends. Larry and I are looking forward to retiring in a couple of years. His 24 years as a Commissioner ends in January and we have turned our cattle operation over to our children. I will work for two more years and then take residence in our newly purchased home outside of Weatherford, Texas. I look forward to being a lazy bum! As far as what else in life I have included what would be on a speaker's bio (which could be totally boring) -
I currently am the economic development director for the Perryton Community Development Corporation where l hold the senior level responsibility for administering and performing a vast array of activities related to economic development.
I have been involved in the economic development field my entire career. The last ten years with the Perryton Community Development Corporation. I served as the Executive Director for the Perryton Chamber of Commerce for the 18 years prior. I have benn involved in a variety of organizations. I served as President of the Chamber of Commerce Executives Association of West Texas where I received the Manager of the Year Award. I served as President of the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Board where Iwas honored with the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Distinguished Service Award. I am a graduate of the six year program of the United States Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management. I also invested an additional six years in Advanced Management and served as the Chairman of the SMU Board of Regents Institute for Organization Management. Regionally I have had the distinct pleasure of serving on the Workforce Development Board, Entrepreneur Alliance and the Texas Panhandle Rural Development Corporation. I received the Goodwin Regional Public Administrator Award from the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission. Locally my most treasured award was Perryton’s Citizen of the Year Award. Currently, I serve on the High Ground of Texas Board of Directors and have previously served as their chair for two terms. I have also served on Texas Economic Development Board and Executive Board.
I am married to Larry Hardy and has two children and 6 grandchildren. My passions include salt water fishing, reading, making jewelry and spending time in the mountains.
I fondly remember Miss Willy - always making sure my dresses were long enough. I had a blast in Neil Hess's drama class. The Back Stage Performances were always interesting to say the least! I don't guess Palo Duro Canyon excursions can be mentioned since I don't believe they were a part of the school curriculum.
