When we dressed Melissa Kidd up as the spider in a Little Miss Muffett sketch. We thought we could control her on stage with ropes and pulleys--we were wrong. However, the reaction from Bill Porter, the band director, was priceless.
My next favorite story strangely also involves Melissa, also with her in midair, but it did not end as well, although it was just as funny, maybe even funnier.

Coach Kile's office was in the Boy's locker room. He had a door and a window that opened out into the locker room. That's really gross now that I remember it. I also remember a sign he had taped to the inside of his window. It was a large picture of a human skull, with the caption, "DIDN'T SHOWER". That would probably get you fired today too. I always had the sense that he really liked us, even though he was pretty hard on us. He had a great sense of humor. We were fortunant to have him.
